Three generations,
one name.

Royal Leather Industries has been in the same family since 1986. It started as one man's leather trade in Lahore and now covers every stage of production, from the raw hide to the finished stitch. The family still runs it.

A one-man workshop in Lahore.

Abdul Latif Malik set up a small leather workshop in Lahore. He worked without a factory, and he held back anything he would not put his own name on.

A workshop became an industry.

Malik Muhammad Azam scaled up his father's trade. Under his direction RLI grew into a full tannery with its own stitching floor, and became the first tannery in Pakistan to produce chrome-free leather.

The Tannery

On Sheikhupura Road, Lahore, our tannery turns raw hide into finished leather in a full range of colours and finishes, for garments, footwear, gloves and upholstery. We were the first in Pakistan to produce chrome-free leather.

Raw Hide Processing Unit

This unit handles the treatments that come after tanning. It is where leather is made fire-retardant, waterproof or touchscreen-compatible, using low-impact chemistry alongside conventional tanning methods.

The In-House Design Team

Our design team works on the product before the first cut is made. They take a client's sketch or brief and turn it into a technical pattern the cutting floor can work from.

We cut by hand and by laser, depending on the job. Both are set up to get the most usable leather out of each hide and to keep panels matched across a production run.

Our stitching floor combines automatic machinery with hand work to produce finished leather goods. Because the floor is ours, a custom order can go from sketch to stitched product without leaving the company.
